Today, the BrainBox AI Trane Technologies AI Lab & Showroom officially opens its doors in Montreal, Canada. This permanent space is designed to develop and demystify advanced artificial intelligence (AI) in Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning (HVAC). While AI has already begun transforming HVAC, much of the technology still operates quietly in the background and remains unfamiliar across the industry. The AI Lab & Showroom was created to pull that invisible layer of intelligence out from behind buildings and into a more experiential environment people can finally explore and engage with directly.

The Showroom: making AI in HVAC tangible

The Showroom curates an experience that changes how people engage with BrainBox AI’s solutions. Rather than functioning as a traditional product demonstration, the space immerses guests in the technologies already making buildings smarter every day.

Inside the Showroom, dynamic visualizations transform this hidden intelligence into an enveloping experience. Signals, light, and data move continuously through the space, creating the feeling of stepping inside the operational brain that is already quietly transforming buildings and fleet across the world. This cognitive experience aims to spark curiosity and open minds to what our AI solutions in HVAC are already doing and the magnitude of what’s still ahead.

At the center of the Showroom are five interactive stations focused on three BrainBox AI solutions, ARIA, AI Control, and Cloud BMS as well as customer case studies, and the digital technologies being developed across the broader Trane Technologies ecosystem. From autonomous control to cloud-connected systems and measurable performance metrics, each station offers a different perspective into how AI is reshaping HVAC.

The AI Lab: advancing what comes next

While the Showroom focuses on today’s technologies, the AI Lab is dedicated to developing the technologies of tomorrow.

Inside the AI Lab is where researchers, scientists, and technical experts continue to explore areas including AI enablement hardware, advanced algorithms, deep learning applications, and grid-interactive buildings. Enriched by the minds pushing applied AI research beyond today’s capabilities, the AI Lab will continue to deepen the future of HVAC innovation.

Nine years leading to this moment

BrainBox AI was founded on the belief that buildings, responsible for nearly 40% of global energy consumption, could be fundamentally transformed through AI by giving HVAC systems the intelligence to predict, adapt, and optimize continuously in real time.

That belief has since evolved from a bold idea into AI technologies operating across millions of square feet and a wide range of building types worldwide.
