Context
Following in the carbon-reduced footsteps of its parent company, BrainBox AI’s client sought to decarbonize its medical clinics with the added benefit of reducing its HVAC-related energy costs.
The client began by trialing BrainBox AI’s technology in 5 of their highly temperature-dependent facilities. Impressed by the results after just 6 months, we proceeded to deploy our solution in 110 of their medical centers across 36 US states.

Process
Rapid implementation in 5 locations
BrainBox AI’s solution was implemented swiftly and remotely by connecting the client’s building management system to BrainBox AI’s cloud. After mapping each clinic and learning their thermal behaviors, our solution rapidly transformed their reactive HVAC systems into predictive ones able to autonomously adjust temperatures zone-by-zone by incorporating external data sets such as weather forecasts.
Due to the sensitive nature of the contents being handled by the medical clinics, BrainBox AI had to ensure that strict temperature and humidity setpoints be met and maintained while optimizing the buildings’ HVAC energy usage. Our detailed onboarding process was paramount to guaranteeing this.
Another crucial factor in achieving efficient zone-by-zone temperature management and energy efficiency is ensuring the coordination between the rooftop units and the rest of the buildings’ HVAC equipment, a core solution capability for BrainBox AI.
Results
Our solution consistently produced impressive results across various locations and climates. The overall reductions allowed our client to decarbonize its 5 clinics by 15 tCO2eq, the equivalent of driving coast to coast from Los Angeles to Atlantic City 13 times over.
BrainBox AI’s success in these piloted locations has led to the implementation in over 100 more of our client’s medical clinics across the US. This will significantly support them in achieving their decarbonization goals.
